Artist description
Today, young performers are a dime a dozen, singing other’s words and acting as human advertisements. Mississauga native Robyn Dell’Unto has managed to stay true to herself despite the pressures of what sells and what doesn’t. In an era of music that relies on the fake and flamboyant, sixteen year old Robyn Dell’Unto is riding on the beauty of her lyrical honesty and the unique musicality of her original compositions. Having written and recorded over thirty original songs before her seventeenth birthday, she continues to strive towards recognition in the world of musical entertainment and songwriting.
Dell’Unto has been studying Royal Conservatory Classical guitar since age nine and began winning awards for her poetry and short stories at eight. As a young and talented guitarist with a big voice and a love for lyricism, it seemed only natural for her to begin composing original works. After delving into jazz and blues studies at twelve, the talented young musician’s compositions evolved from sweet simplicity to musical ingenuity.
In September 2000, Robyn was accepted to Cawthra Park’s nationally renowned Arts program for Guitar Studies where she immediately began performing her compositions solo and with other instruments at packed school and community concerts. Her mature, insightful songwriting and polished performances resulted in cash prize winnings at Cawthra Park’s annual ‘The Battle of the Bands’. This elegant and poised 16 year old has since headlined at variety shows, talent showcases and benefit concerts held at Cawthra Park and began self- recording some of her songs on the schools digital equipment to meet demand. The original artist has distributed over two hundred of her self recorded demos throughout Mississauga. Although she is not currently with a band she is constantly arranging her songs for and performing with a variety of professional instrumentalists.
Robyn Dell’Unto has performed as a solo artist at many venues over the past two years, including Chapter’s at Square One, The Port Credit annual Jazz Festival, ‘Southside Shuffle’ and most recently, Second Cup on Queen Street in Streetsville. She has performed solo at weddings and private functions such as the River Coyote Gallery Art Exhibit in Port Credit. She was pictured with Don Ross and Rik Emmett in the Oakville Beaver as a student at the 2001 National Guitar Workshop held at Appleby College in Oakville. Robyn has also performed with a variety of local groups and bands at the Bread and Honey Festival and Carrasauga Pavillions.
Robyn Dell’Unto is a captivating and compelling artist who draws in her audience with clever and insightful lyrics about life, love and her witty observations of the human condition. With undying honesty, she shares her life with her audiences, who never fail to relate with what she has to say and then ask for more. With the goal of finding her place in the world of professional entertainment and songwriting, she continues to pursue her passion for musical composition and never fails to lure in aundiences with her beautiful clarity, integrity and incredible talent.
