    Artist History
lazy DJ and producer Lazy champions a lifestyle representative of, what else, his name. "It's an attitude that people should relax, enjoy life and be lazy," explains an eased Joshua DuPont, better known as Lazy. When he DJ's, he seduces a dance floor with his style of deep, dub, minimal, tribal and progressive house. Lazy has been DJing since 1997, playing raves, club nights, fashion shows, art openings, fundraisers and benefits all over the Houston and Austin areas. He's drawn a lot of inspiration from other DJs he respects and learned from - D-Panic, Chris Treadway, Abiel (RIP) and DJ Skunk. "I have remained independently free from any constraints or barriers set by commitments to a specific production crew," adds the soft spoken DuPont. Regardless, he's been booked on stellar lineups with the seminal Derrick Carter, Alexi Delano, Miguel Migs, Charles Little, Kenny Hawkes. From 1998-99 he was part of the "Soular Grooves" family as a DJ in rotation on DJ Sun's Jazz, soul and rare grooves public radio show (KPFT 90.1 FM). Since then Lazy's been the host and resident DJ Fridays on Rice Radio's super-amped variety DJ show "MK-Ultra" (KTRU 91.7 FM). "MK Ultra" broadcasts to a large listening audience both within the airwaves and online at www.ktru.org. Last year he recorded five mix CD's - Overkhast (dub, reggae, jazz house), Home (deep house), Movement (deep house), Translucent (tribal/progressive) and A.D. (ambient/trip hop) live off the radio show. As an avid supporter of the underground dance music scene, Lazy has lent his time and finances to promote the production of memorial gatherings and three exclusive warehouse events in Houston. Those events produced in 1999, along with Treadway and SDC Productions, featured DJs such as Garth, Jim Hopkins and Dubtribe Soundsystem. Since then he helped start the “Bridging the Gap” series at The Underground Lounge that included DJs Merrick Brown (Tektite), Spettro, Demarkus Lewis and Chris Lum (Molton Studios). Recently Lazy has started a new club night at Lotus Lounge called “Variety.” It’s opening night featured DJs Spettro and Jordan Vesteyo. Meanwhile, Lazy has worked up to producing. "I am currently working on more original productions with (minimal house DJ/producer) Josiah Burke with more future releases planned, “ prides Lazy. His debut release is a collaboration with partner in crime Burke. "A Bump in the Night," a dark, deep, minimal, tribal, techy-house single, is the premiere track featured on an exclusive independent film soundtrack, The Heat Wave. He has since produced over twelve original tracks (unreleased) with various local producers, three of which are scheduled to appear in the debut compilation from orsonic records.
