Artist History
Indescribable is a word often used when trying to explain the style of music Eric Walters and Brian Carroll create. It all started at a Southern California community college when Eric posted a flier which simply said, "Looking for musicians to jam." Brian, frustrated with the over abundance of musicians searching to form rock/punk bands, found Eric’s flier to be an opportunity to jam with an open minded musician. From the first moment of playing, it was evident that Brian’s skilled bass playing was the perfect compliment to Eric’s jazzy guitar style. The two began avidly writing songs and decided to seek out a drummer and a singer to complete their band.
Eric and Brian’s styles matched well with one another, but they were having a very difficult time finding other musicians to click with. Meanwhile Eric started experimenting with an acoustic guitar. After a few not so successful attempts at forming a complete band, Eric and Brian decided to write songs as a duo; using acoustic guitar, electric bass, and Eric on vocals. Eric had been an avid "Car Singer" for years, but had never taken on the role as a lead singer. This brought a whole new deck of cards to the table. The position gave him the opportunity to open up and share his poetic thoughts and stories.
After quickly writing enough material to play live, they decided to test their new sound at an open mic night in a local coffee house. They immediately attracted a tremendous response, which led to a starring spot in a special showcase premiering up and coming local talent. They then began to press ahead by performing more shows and recording their first independent release, "Tomorrow’s Been Adjusted by Today." The cd has had a lot of positive reactions. The eight song effort has been described as folk rock blues, with jazzy funk structures, while maintaining a pop sensibility. Eric’s lyrics are sincere, focusing on life experiences about longing, searching, and relationships.
With a focus on creating music that allows them to experiment and expand on their own abilities as instrumentalists/songwriters, Eric Walters and Brian Carroll intend to travel and perform while building a grass roots following, one fan at a time.
