Artist History
Nelson Velazquez moved from Texas in 1998 to Chicago afterfinishing school. He had successful runs with otherbands that he help start, mainly Sphere of Influenceand Malakai. Though the bands did not last, theygave him the fundamental structures and understandingof music, musicians, and what exactly he wantedto be in future endevours. Six months after arriving in Chicago, he startedrecording a solo record with the band moniker of"souixacydal Pidgeons In a Can" to support all of the ideas and songs stuck in his head. Fleshed out over a periodof a month, the songs were refined and recordedcompletely in his one bedroom apartment! Pressedto CD, the album "Souixacyde is Painless..." is now available to all! Shortly after recording his first solo record, hemet up with bassist and cofounding member Patti Corriganto form the Chicago band Double Helix. The band wrote completely new material and gigged in a fewclubs around Chicagoland. Due to departure of members andirreconcilable differences between remaining members, the band broke up in October 2000. Now Nelson is moving forward with recording demosof new songs as well as jamming and auditioning with new musicians to form a new band. |
