Artist History Rocket 88 began as a self-indulgent rock band in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Its first incarnation, the Sloths, was conceived as an excuse to have a three guitar lineup with no bass. I wrote all 15 of the Sloths songs in one hour before the first practice. The Sloths played one show in Tuscaloosa that ended with broken windows, a fire hazard and 40 hours of community service. The Sloths became Rocket 88 when one of the guitar players was lost to stage fright and two new guitar players were added in his place. But, Rocket 88's 4 guitar line up was short lived due to the entire band leaving me to start their own band. Since the whole ordeal started as self-indulgent, and lacking a band, I decided nothing could be more self-indulgent than playing all the instruments myself. And so, I've been writing and recording this stuff for the past four years. The more recent songs are slower and lack drums but the production quality is usually better on them. Enjoy.
