Artist History Old Man Tucker. Punk band legend? Top secret military encryption? Nope. He's just an old man that lives two hundred and fifty feet north of Jon Herrmann, lead singer and lead guitarist for pop-punk band Old Man Tucker. How did the phenomena of this band come to be, you may ask yourself...I'll tell you. It was a midsummer's afternoon, 1998, when Jon Herrmann, and I, BJ Lighvoet (bassist and back-up vocals) came up with the idea for a band. We wanted to do something fun, something original something the whole family could enjoy, but we decided to be a punk band instead, considering we couldn't rap or play our instruments very well...especially me, I had never picked up a bass in my life. But we knew it could happen. So I bought a bass and Jon and I started messing around (on our GUITARS), played a few cover songs and my friend Scott bought a set of drums and we played at Jon's house for fun.
