Artist History
G. Brewster Smith is the brains and talent behind BREWSTER. Brewster Smith was born into a musical family with a father who played sax and harmonica professionally, and two siblings who loved to sing. Brewster's first love was the drums. He exhibited rhythmic talent fromthe start. By 11 he had his own drum set. At 15 he learned how to play guitar, followed by the piano at 16 and bass at 18. As he began to write and play his own compositions, he was influenced by his love for the music of The Beatles, Elvis, Johnny Cash, David Bowie and Metallica.Brewster moved to NYC to pursue his dream and played in clubs across the city with many bands, including Youth Gone Mad and White Courtesy Telephone. While with the latter, DETAILS magazine called Brewster "a musical prodigy."Brewster's CD, aptly named BREWSTER, was recently released on Monster Island Records (www.monsterisland.com/brewster). Strains of traditional rock and modern country appear in songs everyone can relate to, with lyrics that comment on life's common experiences. With a strong, clear and distinctive voice, backed by music that crosses all lines, BREWSTER is both a band to watch and an earnest performer to follow. He knows how to tap into the emotions we experience in our friendships and relationships. Just as Brewster sings in his first song, he's "Just Like You." |
