Artist description
Box Jenkins is currently a long distance internet based songwriting project (this isn't really by choice, but with moving from one part of the country to another, this seems like a practical alternative). Many of the contributors have either never met or have not seen each other in years. |

Artist History
Pittsburgh, 1996. The project started as the songwriting collaboration between myself (Louis Schwarz) and Richard Hess. Richard and I had arrived at an audition for some sort of "groove rock" band (rock jazz funk music on speed?). A group of pure instrumentalist were looking for a vocalist. Needless to say, neither Richard nor I could figure out how to sing to music that was not written to have a vocalist. So after spending sometime chatting about the state of music, finding common musical ground (i.e., Roy Orbison, Gene Pitney, and Lou Reed), we began to work on original music. |
