Artist description Box Jenkins is currently a long distance internet based songwriting project (this isn't really by choice, but with moving from one part of the country to another, this seems like a practical alternative). Many of the contributors have either never met or have not seen each other in years.

Artist History Pittsburgh, 1996. The project started as the songwriting collaboration between myself (Louis Schwarz) and Richard Hess. Richard and I had arrived at an audition for some sort of "groove rock" band (rock jazz funk music on speed?). A group of pure instrumentalist were looking for a vocalist. Needless to say, neither Richard nor I could figure out how to sing to music that was not written to have a vocalist. So after spending sometime chatting about the state of music, finding common musical ground (i.e., Roy Orbison, Gene Pitney, and Lou Reed), we began to work on original music.
