Artist History The avant world ensemble was formed in late 1996 in an effort to assist the planetary energy shift into the satya yuga phase. Composer/saxophonist joseph yorio brought together the core of the north florida funk scene and elements of india and africa to create a unique blend of structured improvisational funk and the spirituality of the east. In an effort to keep the music pure, performances have been few and far between, focusing on the upliftment and study of its members. With the completion of their first cd in february and joseph yorio's year long retreat, the avant world ensemble braces itself for the new millenium and a year full of much activity.
