Sully About The Sullied My goal with The Sullied is to create songs with an eternal sound that will stand the test of time. I want to create music with certain elements that are important to me and to all music. Music with the fire of Hendrix, the air of Shakti, the aggression of Soundgarden, the soul of P-Funk, the dissonance of Stravinsky and the depth of Miles. I have always had a deep love for music in a multitude of styles and genres. I have spent my life studying and internalizing this love that is such a great part of me. I have tried to use my diverse influences to create a wholly original sound. A sound that is Rock, with rich texture soulful melodies and harmonic depth. Dig It !!! Inception of The Sullied While writing the material for my first CD, I knew the music would need gifted players to achieve what I had in mind. They would have to be great players, both live and in the studio. They would have to be versatile enough to understand a wide variety of styles, they would have to be strong improvisers and have a firm grasp of pocket and groove -- all the while being able to rock hard. Having lived and played music professionally in Las Vegas for a number of years, I have been able to work with a number of gifted musicians in a variety of settings, so the choices came easy. For the crucial bass and drums --- I asked Rochon Westmoreland (Bill Champlin, Tom Scott, The Pointer Sisters, The Four Tops) to play bass and for drums I asked Eddie Garcia (Bill Champlin, Paul Gilbert). I worked with Eddie and Rochon on many gigs before joining them as a regular member of Clint Holmes' band. They have played together with the likes of Bill Champlin, Santa Fe and Another Level, and have achieved the kind of musical bond only rarely experienced. Next, I felt that the music required a unique and challenging extra sound -- and for that I turned to David Ragsdale. We have played together many times and have a strong musical and personal bond and I have long admired his violin work for Kansas. In addition, Dave's original CD, David and Goliath, has some of the best writing and playing I have ever heard in instrumental rock/fusion music. I knew his contribution to The Sullied would be invaluable. My goal with The Sullied is to create songs that will stand the test of time, songs with an eternal sound. The Sullied CD -- entitled Meltdown --consists of twelve original songs.

    Press Reviews
Geek America.com The Sullied "Meltdown" CD Grade: A “OK, this has got to be the most bizarre, yet wonderful thing I've ever heard; and I am being completely sincere Mad Ex would say "Praise Jesus" about a hundred and fifty times as he jumped up and down.” Cosmikdebris.com THE SULLIED Meltdown (indie) Reviewed by DJ Johnson ------------------------------------------------------------------------ “There are pieces of hard rock, mainstream (alt), fusion and balladry, with jagged bits of funk in spots and enough off-the-wall soundscapes in this album to keep you curious, whether you're sure you like it or not. The thing is it's all so incredibly well written and played that somewhere along the way they're probably gonna get ya.” Lvlocalmusicscene.com CD review of Meltdown Review Band: The Sullied “It’s refreshing to hear a band with some talent, and more than a three-chord vocabulary. This band has a diverse range of talent successfully incorporating violins into an alternative sound. If you ask me these guys are something to look out for.” Music Morsals Review The Sullied - Meltdown SUL22678 Singer/songwriter/guitarist Sully puts a slight progressive edge on this potent rock machine, particularly with his slightly gruff but emotive voice and the addition of one-time Kansas violinist David Ragsdale. Some songs drive brash power cords and pounding rhythms that are wrapped around dramatic passages, while other subtle directions include hard edged folk and Hendrix inspired blues. A true songsmith who uses all of his facilities to create music that is powerful in diverse ways. URL: www.TheSullied.com E-mail: sully@thesullied.com
