Artist History
The first seeds of The Flairs were planted in the summer of 2002 when vocalist/guitarist Dawn Mandarino and powerhouse drummer Jen Foster, then playing with their former pop outfit Tuuli, met guitar-slinging babe Gillian Hanna (Bif Naked), as they criss-crossed North America playing outdoor festivals and concerts.
Finding common ground and a fast growing camaraderie, the three gals began to toy with the idea of forming their own group with a much more edgy and in-your-face sound than either party had previously explored.
Dawn packed up her Toronto apartment, Jen said goodbye to Calgary, and the two relocated to Gillian's hometown of Vancouver. Upon arrival the newly formed trio locked themselves away and began exploring their new sound in a flurry of creative energy. With the addition of Gillian's younger brother Ryan on bass, the line-up was complete and The Flairs were officially born. |
