Artist History
One Drop Rule is the creation of songwriter Jack Lee. Conceptualized in mid 2002, the Tennessean crafted a unique blend of guitar-laced sounds that would result into a compilation of self-produced songs. Cultivating years of influences from rock, pop, blues, soul, and jazz, the songwriter performed, engineered and produced a full-length CD resulting in tracks that captured a fresh mixture inspired by each respective music genre. Jack felt the project name, One Drop Rule, would be a fitting title. The meaning is a phrase historically used to label the ethnicity of a person as "black" if there was a trace of African-American "blood" in that person's biological lineage. Being multi-racial himself, Jack found a way to contrast the meaning of the phrase by ignoring the "ethnic" barriers given to the different styles of music and simply to create by what "feels" right; combining it all into "one drop".
