    Artist description
What is it? Emo/Folk/Rock? Acoustic-electric pop/punk? Alternative country? You listen, then decide. Cutting across indie music genres OMNM considers one of its "reasons for being" to inject unchanging truths into the dialog of modern life. "Our aim is not to 'preach to the choir' but to stand in the larger culture and thoughtfully promote the truth that the Bible and the God who gave it are trustworthy and have a message that can and will make sense of life." We believe that we have been given a message to communicate and that encouraging what is true and right is more important than making a buck, as needful as that may be. Because of that belief, it is our policy to provide economy CDs of our titles to anyone who requests one, even if it means sending one for free. (As you know, nothing is really "free" -- it always costs somebody something. In this case, we'll eat the cost for anyone who truly can't afford one.) Our cost of materials and postage on the economy CDs is about $2.50 -- this does not include the cost of production for the music itself. Our asking price is $5.00 plus $1.00 for postage. If you can afford it, please pay the asking price (or if you are inclined, donate a little extra for the ones who can't afford it.) If you can't afford it, send whatever you can. To order: Send a check or money order payable to John F. Rowland, along with a note specifying the title(s) requested, to IndieSound c/o John Rowland, 105 S. Oak Street, Junction City, LA 71749 * Donations are not tax deductible.

    Artist History
John Rowland began playing fretted instruments with his high school garage band in the sixties. Among others in the band was (now famous) artist Stan Herd, who abandoned guitar for his true passion, visual arts. Later John joined some college friends in a jazz project named Rosewood (later named Jaws) as bassist. Rosewood/Jaws performed extensively throughout the midwest in the early seventies, doing dates with the Kansas City Philharmonic, the Wichita Jazz Festival, guitarist and jazz educator Jerry Hahn and numerous college, coffee house and club appearances. After a hiatus, he toured major university campuses across the midwest, eastern seaboard and south in 1980 with City Lights, a 9-piece band using the medium of contemporary rock covers to weave a message presenting the need and opportunity for new life through Jesus Christ. After touring with City Lights, John spent several years as bassist and guitarist for worship music groups at Indiana University. As guitarist for OldManNewMan, he brings his love for scriptural worship music into the now of the new millenium. Joseph Rowland began his musical career at a young age studying piano with masters and doctoral students at Indiana University. He continued his piano studies after moving to the south and was privileged to win a number of performance awards in Piano Guild auditions. In the late 1990s he began adding to his instrumental portfolio, with time learning the clarinet and fretted instruments. He made the decision to focus on the bass guitar and has worked hard to get up to speed as a player, listening to greats like Les Claypool, Abraham Laboriel and others. Along with OldManNewMan, he has done stints as bassist with local indie bands, performed as bassist for a large worship group in El Dorado, Arkansas, and is developing other creative projects.
