Artist History
Greetings,
My name is Benjamin Cisrow and I am a gospel-recording artist. I was born May 31, 1971 in Vineland, New Jersey to Ruby Ellen Ransome and the late Benjamin John Cisrow III. I am the eldest of four children, two males and two females. I attended elementary school in Vineland and continued my education there until graduating from Vineland Senior High School. I began singing at the age of three at Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church. My earliest influence on my vocal style was my aunt Spring Hollis, who continues to be a major influence on my vocal style as well as being a role model for my life. As a child and young adolescent, most of my musical background came from singing in the church.
At the age of 21, I decided to make my singing career professional. I sang in numerous talent showcases and competitions, they included the Nu Star Talent Search in Philadelphia where I became a finalist. I also performed in the Atlantic City Hilton Casino & Resort Employee Talent Show. I have performed in clubs, restaurant establishments, and social functions.
I later joined Minister Khent Holmes and Higher Praise, a gospel music recording group. In November of 1998, we recorded our first CD. It was through my affiliation with this group that I made one of my first television appearances and traveled throughout the southern region of New Jersey. Presently, I continue to record and sing with both Higher Praise and the Praise and Worship Team of my home church, Church in the City, a division of Vaughn and Jennifer Brown Ministries.
At about the age of 25, God began to minister to me about using my ability and gift to sing musical material that would bring glory to Him. Through singing at numerous funerals and memorial services and other negative personal experiences, God showed me the need and purpose within our society for the artistry of gospel music. Since that time, I have been compelled to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through song. I have been allowed to see that there is a need to sing about many different topics: love, sex, drugs, violence, and many other things that plague our society. Many of today’s artists sing about these subjects in a manner that has a negative effect on children and society in general. Music is a carrier of spirits and has the ability to provoke many different reactions of its listeners. And it is for this reason I believe it is necessary to sing about these topics that relate to society, but in a manner that will cause men, women, and children to cry, “What must I do to be saved!”
May God Bless You,
Benjamin J. Cisrow IV
