Artist description
The Recoil Effect is acoustic music made from the hearts of hardcore/emo musicians, that is, what happens when the emotion and sincerity, characteristic of hardcore and emo music, are melted down and reformed with an acoustic interpretation.
If you could take a couple of hardcore/emo musicians and give them a couple of acoustic guitars, chances are they would find a way around their limitations--they would find some way to do something unique in order to let their roots and influences shine through. The Recoil Effect intends to do just that. The music is upbeat, heartfelt, and sincere, and is intended to move the listener as it moves us.
Our greatest passion is for music in the vain of thrice, thursday, the used, and other great melodic hardcore/emo bands. Without a doubt, this syle of music possesses a unique power that is not typically within the grasp of any other form of music; however, because of our roots, this emotion is inherently branded on our hearts and is evident in the music of The Recoil Effect.
Songs on Forever or Never Again range from the all instrumental intro ("Prelude"), to the driving, politically charged "Liberty Martyr," to songs such as "Tuesday Morning," "Consider it Casualty," and "Never Again," which address various aspects of life that have moved us with great force. We write songs about the things that truly move us, and times when the effect of life's "recoil" is felt the greatest.
The Recoil Effect is comprised of two people, both armed with acoustic guitars, vocal cords, and an ever-blooming passion for making music. With influences ranging from screamo to folk and back again, the recoil effect intends to blur any prefabricated distinctions of what "emo" music should or shouldn't be, because emotion cannot be caged and passion knows no genre. See for yourself.

Artist History
The Recoil Effect was essentially created out of necessity as well as
desire. Sam Kovar and Adam Reek first teamed up in early 2002 to
start a hardcore/punk/emo band called Say Goodnight. Somewhere along
the line, the idea arose for an acoustic “side project.” As a lack of
permanent members pushed Say Goodnight to the back burner, the side
project idea consequently began to emerge into reality. After
debuting one song (“Consider it Casualty”) at the end of a Say
Goodnight show, Sam and Adam received a flood of support and
compliments, and The Recoil Effect was inevitably born. |
