Artist History
We first met when we were young and when we re-encountered each other, in our early to mid twenties, we found we had a mutual interest in singing. We loved to go out and participate in Karaoke. We were "Karaoke junkies." and soon moonlighted as Karaoke hosts. Both of us always loved to sing. In the shower, car, over the phone, in the kitchen. . . . It didn't matter where we were just as long as it sounded good.
Doug, who had started getting more familiar with the guitar in the early 90's, would take his guitar to parties and on holiday events, or to the beach, or to the park and play to whoever would listen. Amy would sing along. Our voices blended naturally, almost magically; and as our relationship grew, so did our repertoire.
We didn't always play around town. Once, while in Cecil County with a friend, we were going to sing at a bar that had Karaoke. When we arrived we had discovered it was not on that particular night. The bartender suggested we go up the road to another bar called "The Union Hotel" when we arrived we discovered that one of us had left ID at home :( I think it was me...Doug thinks it was him...ahh yes we remember it well...) We were about to get bounced, and were explaining how far we had traveled and to to avail, when our friend chimed in "but they sing!" The doorman who was about to send us home said we could stay if we sang for him on the musician's break. It was our first time up playing live music in front of a crowd. Fortunately the musician that night was Mr. Greg Evans and he was cool about us playing during his break We got up and sang a few songs, and it so happened that the owner of the establishment heard us from upstairs and said she thought she was listening to the juke box. She introduced herself to us and asked if we would be interested in playing a Thursday night on a regular basis. At first we couldn't, due to the lack of equipment, but after a few weeks we were there. That was the first time we played live in front of crowd of people and it felt good! We eventually started playing other places around town, and we've been going ever since, all around the Baltimore area including Fellspoint, Ellicott City, Northern Baltimore County, Harford county and even as far South as Annapolis.
