Artist History
Becky Make Believe has been a band since September 2002, but the five musicians comprising the group have known each other for several years and have played music together in various combinations. Sean and Mike are seasoned acoustic performers from their days in the G5 All-Stars. Dave, Aaron, and James were the G5 Benchwarmers, an acoustic/electric novelty act. Sean, James, and Dave played raucous electric covers under the handle Ovulating Dinosaur. James, Sean, and Mike took acoustic rock to a whole new level as The Moe Syzlak Experience (and how they avoided being sued by Fox is a mystery to this day). With all of this music going on among the fearsome fivesome, it was inevitable that they form a band. A single show played under the name Wild Stallions (don't ask) soon led to two shows under the name Old Man Penney and the Emmett Otter Jug Band (again, I say, don't ask). The Jug Band sessions yielded the group's first original song, "What Now," a rock n' roll track that set the band running. Soon enough, Becky Make Believe was born. Based in Amherst, MA, the group has also been spotted trekking to the mysterious GVegas Studios in Gardner, MA to rehearse and record their rock stylings. The meaty backbeats are provided by Mike, the dual guitar attack is supplied by Dave and Aaron, the soaring vocal stylings are courtesy of Sean, and the bass grooves are donated by the mysterious James. |
