Artist History
Marnie Boyd is a harpist living in Los Angeles, CA. She began her formal musical education at age five with instruction in classical piano, adding vocal and harp studies by age thirteen. She studied harp under Linda Wood-Rollo and Beverly Woesner-Hoehne at Indiana University, where she earned degrees in Comparative Literature and Anthropology. Other instructors include Marcia Dickstein, harpist for the Debussy Trio, and Dorothy Matteffs, former principal harpist with the Boise Philharmonic.
Marnie plays a full-sized classical pedal harp - an acoustic/electric Camac Atlantide. She also has repertoire for the Irish folk harp, and plays a Stoney-End Lorraine gothic-style harp.
For the past six years, Marnie has been performing at special events, including wedding ceremonies and receptions, bar mitzvahs, private parties, corporate events, restaurants, and hotels. Her repertoire is varied, ranging from Medieval and Renaissance to Baroque, French Romantic, Modern, Celtic, Jewish, and popular selections.
In addition to her freelance work, Marnie recently completed her first recording entitled "Sunday Skies". This debut CD is a collection of her own compositions, featuring harp and voice as well as solo harp pieces.
