Artist description
A punkish Christian band from Ohio |
 |
Music Style
Mostly punkish but always changing. Really it's like pop-punk except with more guitar solos and more intricate bass parts. Oh yeah, we throw in some acoustic stuff now and then, too. |
 |
Musical Influences
For some members, Relient K, MxPx, and modern Christian pop-punk. For others, metal artists like Metallica. |

Artist History
Formed in early 2002 and initiated by Kyle Spurgeon, Counter-Productive was originally named Constantly Rejected, but since Kyle got a girl friend the name was promptly changed. Counter-Productive started out with just Joe, Kyle, and Ty playing in Joe's basement. Throw in Matt Smith, a solid drumming addition, and we were ready to rock. Not content to play covers from the beginning, priority number one was to create our own music. Carving out some creative melodies and power-chord progressions, then adding innovative solos, bass, and drum parts, we wrote some songs ranging in content from narratives about church camp to prayers for guidance. Our first real show was in Christy Willison's back yard for a crowd of about 30, but we like to think that didnt really happen. We had to start somewhere. Since that cold October night, we've put our picks to the grindstone to try to make a name for ourselves and make a difference for Him. |
