Artist History
Short but packed with stuff
We started out nearly two years ago at a Purim party with Zevi and Zvi on guitars, Yoni on drums and Ilan Scolnik on vocals. After a few floundering months with that lineup, Zevi and Yoni switched spots.
Soon, Moe Tenenbaum was added as band bassist and backup singer and when Ilan left for a year at Hebrew U, Amir Rosenthal took over as singer.
More recently, Ariel Oziel has taken the role of frontman and Moe was replaced by the band's official cool dude Eli J.
"Shirayim Sells Out" was recorded and mastered in 18 hours at the end of December 2002. the band used its regular arrangement with added organ tracks by Yoni and backup vocals split between Ariel and Yoni.
The album represents the ultimate combination of Jewish music with a rock orientation.
The real Shirayim experience, though, really happens live. We routinely play 2-3 hour shows with 3-4 sets. Last summer we rocked Mel Lastman Square and played for more than a thousand people on Israeli Independance day.
The frantic dancing and wild atmosphere of our live show is definitly worth experiencing. And, it's when we're having the most fun.
We continue to play live gigs and are moving into new areas, debuting both new Hebrew and English compositions.
