Artist description
A mild mannered suit by day and a tortured, fragile songwriter by night, David Massey writes songs in the tradition of John Prine, Lucinda Williams, Steve Forbert, Todd Snider, Steve Earle and Townes Van Zandt. They are folk songs flavored with country, bluegrass, rock, Cajun and Celtic seasonings. David lives and works in the Washington D.C. area. |

Artist History
David is currently recording songs at Bias Recording in Springfield, Virginia and at Zan McLeod's project studio in Potomac, Maryland (see celticmusic.com). Three folky tracks are completed and avaialable on mp3.com. These tunes feature Dudley Connell, lead singer for The Seldom Scene and two-time Bluegrass Vocalist of the Year award winner, on harmony vocals. Stephen Wade, whose one-man show "Banjo Dancing" ran for many years in Chicago and Washington, D.C., plays banjo on two of these tracks. David is hard at work on two electric rock songs with various members of Cathy Ponton King's band; a rough version of one of those tracks will be available on mp3.com on or about January 30, and the final version of both tracks should be available in February. |
