Artist History Modern Primitiv was borne as a labour of love whilst attending Art College in Denver,CO.... I found the soundtrack of my life was spilling out of me, and I had to heed the siren call to get it out. I desperately needed to realize the audio-visions making the very air around me thick with the psychological implications they held for me. After a truly psychadelic couple years of pure fine arts, a distinct "sound" had surfaced in relation to the aspects of the themes and ambiance portrayed in my paintings, sculptures, and designs. The need to record what was flowing around in my head was too great to control, so as fate would have it was gifted with a minidisc recorder by an angel, and i got a radio shack crappy microphone, a handheld tape recorder(like Hunter S.)and a shite casio keyboard with a little built in drum pad, and various music making devices like kid's toys, rubber bands, and pots and pans. And so the first Modern Primitiv songs were LIVE recorded in real time, thereby spawning the Artist's struggle to control the beast that is Modern Primitiv... A commitment to experimental and abstract-alternative means of audio (musical?!) expression...A commentary on the state of the universe, and all of man's struggles and hopes rolled into luscious soundscape visions. Eventually realizing the inital limitiations of such a recording manner was quite limited, I found the music wave editing program SoundForge 5. This was a drastic jump in sound quality and freedom of movement of sound files...tho still limiting due to the act all sounds must be flattened to one single .wav file (still no channels/individual tracks!!) "Drudging in the Trenches" is what i have coined this brief section of time, because It's where I learned the ropes of sound collage. As the need for maturation and sophistication rose, my good friend and musical guru Tomek Sikora introduced me to the program of creation and sequencing genious, Cubase VST. This was a the shot heard 'round the world, as it were, for Modern Primitiv. Allowing near infinite amout of sound quality and frequency control, numerous channels and (extrememly) multiple tracks, live midi input, recording of line-in instuments, and crazy filters abound-Cubase freed me to truly express (finally) the complexities of ambience and audio dynamics desperatly needed. And the eventual discovery of the drumloop creation program LDB by long-time musician-programmer "master Zap" further allowed for more control and fluid sound output. Of course even now, Modern Primitiv is constantly growing and evolving, I learn a little bit more with each song about myself and my capabilities as an artist/musician modern-day scribe...
