from XTrustInYaselfX zine:
horsell common are one the most original bands to
come out of Australia. a perfect blend of hardcore,
rock and punk, with melodic vocals, and screams
and accasional rough vocals too. its hard to tell
there influences because, ever song is so
diferent and has so many different styles of
music, there are breakdowns, melodic parts,
chaotic parts and fast punk parts. |

Artist History
A three piece born out of Melbourne’s northern
suburbs with a shared appetite for all things rock.
While the band started jamming at the beginning
of 2001, it wasn’t until January 2002 that horsell
common played their first show to a full house at
the Metro. They would be invited back to play the
Metro five more times that year. Taking inspiration
from various styles such as hardcore, punk and
good old rock & roll, horsell common found their
niche. In October of 2002 the band headed into
the studio with one objective, “to create a
noticeable gap between the bands live and studio
sound without compromising style”. The results
can be heard on their debut EP ‘a who’s who road
of living’ through Dork Records. In the short time
horsell common have been playing live, they have
generated a strong and loyal following around the
country, performing a show that caters to both
hardcore and rock & roll punters. |

A Who's Who Road Of Living
Dork Records / MGM
EP - 5 Tracks -
While playing together as Horsell Common only accounts for about a year of
these guys musical careers you wouldn't know it by listening to this EP. It
follows on and steps up another level from their demo release last year.
Slotting somewhere between hard rock and hardcore these guys have a great
sound and great songwriting skills.
From Melbourne's northern suburbs this three piece has members who also
moonlight in bands like The Wick Effect and 101 Words. This EP opens up with
'Recital' and from then till the end the cd flows so well i was up to the
5th track before i realised shit it's nearly over. So it really pulls you
in. My pick is track 5 'The First Lines' and the secret track hidden behind
a few silent tracks is also pretty good, for something different.
This one will impress, check it out, it's out now and look out for the name.
