Artist History
Casual Havoc began as a four person outfit in August
of 2002. Four young musicians from Concord, NC,
Thomas Harling, the virtuoso musician of the band,
has been playing guitar since 1997, starting with
a different style than he has recently taken up
playing. Alec Lockavitch, originally a guitarist,
switched to bass 2 years ago. He stopped playing
bass in Casual Havoc when his vocal talents were
realized. Alec gives Casual Havoc the unique tone
that people recognize them for. Mike Duncan, a
self-described "schizoid drummer", has been
playing percussion in the school band since 7th
grade(1996). He held many positions as drum
captain and the number 1 Jazz set drummer in high
school and has translated his talents in the full
complement of an orchestra into the driving
rhythym of Casual Havoc. Then Nick Stroud, who has
been playing guitar for 3 1/2 years, starting his
freshman year of high school. Learning rapidly,
he was recruited by Mike .D. and Alec at the
band's conception after hearing him play.
These four hooked up and began playing as Casual
Havoc. In November they went to Old House
Recording Studio and recorded a five track demo
called "Better Luck Next Time" to submit to the
Deep South Entertainment Battle of the Bands.
Accepted, they then played in front of 700 people
January 12th, 2003 at the Lincoln Theatre in
Raleigh, NC, placing third out of the seven
finalist bands at the event. They have been
playing in and around Concord/Charlotte,
frequenting venues like the George Washington
Bookstore and Tavern, the Cabarrus County Expo
Center along with others. And recently have
picked up the amazing Bass Player and musician
that is Michael Fink, who has been playing bass
for three years, who also oddly plays a mean tuba.
Although Casual Havoc is not a Christian Music
Band, Mike Fink is a man of very strong faith,
he has attended Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church all his
life, and loves playing music for God's glory
there. He joined the band August '03. With a great
loyal following, write up's in Creating Loafing
Magazine out of Charlotte, NC the Independent
Tribune out of Concord, NC e-mail interviews with
a Canadian Magazine and goals of recording a full
length album soon under a successful label and
then begin touring, Casual Havoc hopes to become a
popular band on the national scene, as they
already are on the underground local scene. |
