    Artist description
So what is the Mean Spiral sound? It is guitar driven rock that crosses the boundaries of pop and is always melodic. Although a reference the band does not always agree with, it has often been described as “Powderfinger vs. Radiohead”, an interesting sonic reference by any standards.

    Artist History
It was Darryl and Simon T who began to work together in Sydney just prior to the 2000 Olympics. Simon T had met Darryl who, at the time, was singing with a group of friends from Simon T’s past. Quite shy and very unassuming, Darryl became interested in the concept of writing and recording original songs and Simon T was already doing the same but was seeking a lead vocalist so he could concentrate more on his writing, producing and guitar playing. Meanwhile, an old friend of Simon T’s was looking for a place to live as his previous place was being sold out under him so he moved in with Simon T. His name was Eliot, a classical/lead guitarist/and long time songwriter and the place was promptly turned into a production house! The (now) trio were hard up for drums and keyboards so they made do themselves, purchasing a keyboard to do all the fancy stuff till they could get some real players in. Just to make it work live Simon T helped out on bass and called in mate Andy on drums. Simon Slee, (another acquaintance of Simon T’s!), was approached by the group to take over the bass so Simon T could again concentrate on the guitar playing.

    Press Reviews
CHI EP Reviews: They build noise well, and have a sense of dynamics that a lot don’t. Pollyanna, with its interesting use of vocals cutting across each other, is bordering on a bit special. Go look, better still listen.
