Artist History
Soapbox Seven (previously known as Negative 121 and Soapbox 7) is a rock/pop band with a bunch of punk and as of recently melodic hardcore influences. The band started in 98' with the three original members Ben, James and Mark as a small venue garage band. Eventually the band grew enough of a following to play more shows and now headlines venues such as The Marquee Theater and Free Bird Cafe. The band made its way down to Orlando to record their first EP entitled "One Hopeful Year". Eventually Mark and the band went their seperate ways and Mark has gone on to better things and has played for such Jacksonville-based local bands as Greyfield. Ben and James felt that for some reason they should move on even if it was without Mark. They auditioned for bass players for a few months and nothing seemed to be looking up. They were having Steven from Far From Eden fill in until they could find a permanent bass player. Kyle had been to a few Soapbox shows and heard about the spot that needed to be filled. Kyle and Ben met at the Imperial Lounge(now rock-n-roll pizza) when Soapbox was playing a battle of the bands and Kyle just happened to be at that show. Kyle sat in a few practices and quickly picked up the bass parts. Soapbox played a few more shows with Steven and then jumped into writing some new songs with the new member (haha new MEMBER). Eventually they started playing out again after only a few weeks of practice with Kyle. Soapbox Seven has played a number of venues since then stressing that they are best friends before a band. Right now Kyle is continuing his hand as the second guitar, for God only knows how long and Mark is plaing bass again. The band is currently in the studio recording the new album between their time hawking surfer/skater clothes and slinging sub sandwiches. |
