    Artist History
The origins of All Your Base Are Belong To Us are rooted in the Palm Desert rock scene that spawned the Queens of the Stone Age, Brant Bjork and the Operators, Fatso Jetson, and myriad other bands. Unlike their metal influenced brethren, All Your Base Are Belong To Us is a pop band. Yadda yadda yadda. Yes, we’re great. Yes, we were influenced by bands that you probably know. We were even influenced by bands that you don’t know and will never know about because we are infinitely cooler than you. Just listen to the music and make your own opinions about what we sound like and who we compare to. (If we haven’t offended you yet, keep reading, we will.) The founding members of All Your Base Are Belong To Us, along with their friend Eric Altenbernd played together in a band initially called The Neo-Yahtzee Party, until it was changed to The Meshuganahs, and ultimately changed to The Spriggans. The band wrote and recorded about forty-five songs that still circulate among certain very hard-to-breach circles. The Spriggans broke up in 1992. Rick Vegas moved to the LA area and earned a writing degree from Northridge, while Dr. Modo moved to Texas, became a Longhorn and graduated with a degree in Chemistry. Mike TV was hired as a writer at Universal and ultimately became a goddamn development executive for Universal Cartoon Studios. (Friend Eric is currently working towards his Ph.D in History.) In 1996, frustrated with animation, Mike TV taught himself the open D chord on the guitar, called his friend Rick Vegas, and suggested they form a band. Oblivious to the Pandora’s Box of aggravation, strife, and suffering they were about to open, the two idiots rented a lock-out in Burbank and started practicing. A few weeks later they called their friend Dr. Modo and told them what they were up to. A couple months later, the good doctor moved all his shit down to LA and the rest, as they say, is none of your business.
