Artist description
The Satellite Circle plays hard, psychedelic 70s style rock and roll.
The band is about bluesy Sabbath-meets-Skynyrd guitar playing, intense drumming,
mad distorted bass and spacey vocals. All combined to take you on a journey way beyond the portal of the bone white rubber sun. And further.

Artist History
The Satellite Circle was formed in 1997 in Umeå, Sweden. The band grew out of a former project by guitarist Jonas Nordin, bassist Fredrik Holmgren and drummer/vocalist Jonas Ericson. The music can be described as 70s hard rock, influenced by bands like Sir Lord Baltimore, Black Sabbath, Mountain, Grand Funk Railroad, Peps Blodsband, Deep Purple, Bloodrock, Hard Stuff, Captain Beyond, Groundhogs, MC5, The Stooges and Hawkwind.
A demo was recorded in august 1999 and the band soon appeared on a number of compilations world wide. Word spread in the scene and The Satellite Circle began to work with UK label Rage of Achilles. The result was cd EP "Way Beyond the Portal of the Bone White Rubber Sun", released in november 2000. The five song recording was a heavy grooving blend of fuzzy unison seventies style riffing and loose psychedelic jam parts. The EP got a very good reception among both fans of the genre and critics.
July 30 2001 their self titled debut album was released on the same label. This record contained nine tunes and was a step further in the doomy seventies psychedelic blues direction established on the EP. The bands general idea with the recording was to do something sightly different that most bands in the heavy rock scene, to create dynamics by mixing hard riffs with softer, more melodic passages. The psychedelic vibes on the EP was taken to another level to make the heavy bits even heavier. So far the reviewers have been very positive. |

Press Reviews
STONERROCKCHICK.COM....Stoner/doom/kick ass grooves, great guitar riffs. Music is how it makes you feel and I am all warm and tingly right now listening to this album.
The vocals are indescribable - hard, heavy, crazy, unique. I love the vocals! This is fun rock and roll.
At six minutes long 'You Were Never The King' this song is a kick ass intro to one amazing album through and through. 'Remedy' has this Eastern influence that not many bands incorporate. This song crosses many genres. The more I listen the more Doors like this song sounds. Heavy 70's vocals. I love it!
I love it that the songs are fairly long, about 5 minutes each average and not one song gets boring, not for one second. The Beginning of the end is pure psychedelic doom.
This band is incredible - the vocals, the drums, the guitar. The songs invade me and bring me to an indescrible place. This is by far one of the best albums that I have heard thus far. Pychedelic, gooving, spaced out pure soul fucking rock and roll.
This album is for musicians to turn off the analysis (try, just try) and people, just let the songs flow through you. cause an invasion is what happens and you are powerless.
GL-PRODUCTIONS....The Satellite Circle (Swe) Same (Rage Of Achilles) The Satellite Circle delivered already on their previous R.O.A release a devestating mini album titled Way beyond the portal of the bone white rubber sun. A hard mean and evil beast with a volume that nearly blowed my speakers out. They are back on track here with their debut album and The Satellite Circle trademark are still remaining. Solid as a mighty rock backing behind Jonas Ericson powerhouse vocals and a huge wall of sound. This is a more progressive spooky album compare to Way beyondthere is some quiter moments the eastern flavoured Black Mountainside and the softie The Beginning Of The End Of The World but the most part is a mighty groove added with psyched downtuned doomy acid rock. There is obvious similarities here Hawkwind is one, Blue Cheer is another, Sleep, C.O.C, Sir Lord Baltimore, those acid german 70s bands Tiger B.Smith, Murphy Blend etc to name a few but The Satellite Circle is doing their own thing of all their influences. I wouldnt say that this band are original but they sure give the listener a hell of a ride down their own psyched out tripping road. And the fact that this band is only a trio makes the thrill even more exciting. Im very pleased with the album. The Satellite Circle have a bright future ahead of them and with this album my tip is that The Satellite Circle will step out in the frontline in the ever growing Swedish heavyrock scene. This album rocks very hard. |
