Artist History
Eric and Bud met in 1979 and later started their first garage punker band, consisting of drums, bass and vocals only. Eric was 10 and Bud was 12. They played together in a number of bands not worth mentioning. Later Bud moved and Eric started Juice Bros. Around 1982 Bud started Resistance, a Lakewood punk band. About that same time Bud meets Jack in school and later jammed in bands together. While across town Brad and Eric meet in school about 1982-83. Brad and Eric played in Two bands together, or maybe just changed the names from Hogans Heros to Sloppy Seconds. Eric meets Marshall in band class, and Opie is our artist friend whose mom had a killer record collection. About 85-86 Bud moves back to L.B. and starts drumming for Juice Bros. 1986 Brad graduates and moves to Santa Cruz for surf and college. Brad comes home for spring break and Eric introduces Bud to Brad, and Sublime is born. Sublime played shows at Cal State L.B. While Miguel engineered the 40 Oz. To Freedom album at Cal State Dominguez Hills. Marshall played drums and did the scratches on 40 OZ. While Jack sang on Rivers Of Babylon. About this time we ran into RAS1 of Jah Children, a band Sublime used to gig with. In 1990 Marshall took over as drummer because Bud was in rehab. In 1991 Bud returned and worked on Robbin' The Hood with the Boys. Shows continued through 96, the "Self-Titled" album released and Sublime became immortalized. The Jakob Nowell Benefit, Enough Already was put into Motion in late 96. Eric and Bud decided to put a tribute band together with Marshall, Jack, Opie, Ras and Miguel-- their first-time big band style, but they needed a horn player. RAS introduced them to Tim, a saxist from the band Pocket Lent. Tim, who had been to many Sublime shows was more happy to fill in. They were so well received and felt so good that after the show Eric and Bud decided to continue doing what they do best. |
