Artist description
The music found on this site features everything from completely unaccompanied trumpet to full size jazz/fusion bands or even brass ensembles. The is an eclectic collection. Nick Drozdoff, an alumni of the Maynard Ferguson orchestra, is a power lead trumpeter. However, he is also an accomplished jazz trumpeter and classical soloist. All of this is evidenced in his playing. The band consists of a four piece rhythm section with a horn section varying from 5 trumpets (ala Bill Chase) to two trumpets, bone and tenor (ala T.O.P). |

Artist History
Nick has been a free lance professional in the greater Chicago area for over 20 years. He has been recording and performing extensively since leaving the Maynard Ferguson orchestra in 1981. The original band was to feature Nick with his brother, Pete. Pete, an excellent arranger and composer, has moved on, but Nick still keeps the music alive. In 1991, Nick decided to also become a teacher. Drozdoff has a dual background in music and science. Not wanting to let his scientific background atrophy, Drozdoff decided to build a life around two simultaneous careers. His desire, however, was to do something good with his scientific training, not just get a day gig. Teaching young people the beauty and order of the universe through physics seemed a wonderful thing to do. He has found that mixing art and science is a very natural thing to do. The sense of granduer and order in both makes this dual career a beautiful thing. |
