    Artist History
By the time Jeff was 14, he formed a horn band called Pacific Brass and Electric, and their goal was to be like Tower Of Power. There would come a point where PB&E would play up to 18 Tower tunes in a four hour gig which demonstrated their focus on this style of music. At 16, Jeff started driving which gave him the freedom to play in clubs. It was almost unbelievable to that he would get paid for doing something he loved, and the high never left. He joined a band called Astonishment whose personnel included Rosie Gaines who later sang backup with the Artist formerly known as Prince. The next band was Frank Biner and the East Bay Hotline where, in 1977, Jeff crossed paths with two members of Tower's horn section, Doc Kupka and Mic Gillette. Doc had been writing tunes for the Tower Of Power's "In The Slot" album with Frank Biner, and it gave Jeff his first opportunity to rub elbows with some T.O.P. personnel. Pacific Brass and Electric was still viable and they had begun some local touring. In 1981, however, Jeff was introduced to Mickey Thomas of the Jefferson Starship. Jeff was asked to join Mickey's side project Little Gadget and the Soulful Twilights which he played in through 1984 when Jefferson Starship was off the road. During this time, Max Haskett (formerly with Lydia Pense and Cold Blood), was hired as lead vocalist with PB&E. In 1985 when Cold Blood was put back together, Jeff was asked to play guitar and this project lasted through 1989. In 1991, Mickey Thomas put Starship back together and Jeff was asked to join. The next five years would bring extensive touring throughout the world. Jeff's dream came true. He got the call from Emilio Castillo to join Tower Of Power and this has led to a full schedule of touring, recording and writing. In 1997, Jeff received a full artist endorsement from Fender Musical Instruments and Guild Guitars.
