Artist description
The definition of “fiend” is “one who is excessively interested in some hobby, sport or game.” No other word better describes Richard Jones Jr., a.k.a. Fiend, the No Limit Tanker with the fierce voice. “Whenever I step into the studio or hear a dope beat, I’m like a caged animal that hasn’t been fed in a long time…I just gotta bust a verse or else I’ll go crazy.”Born and raised in New Orleans’ 17th Ward, Fiend grew up listening to the music of Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane, NWA and legendary producer Marley Marl. He was brought into the No Limit family when DJ KLC introduced him to Master P. Appearances on various No Limit projects such as Mia X’s “Unlady Like,” the “I’m Bout It” soundtrack and Master P’s “Ghetto D” album lead to his gold-selling debut, “There’s One in Every Family.” Fiend’s sophomore effort, “Street Life,” was produced by KLC and Craig B, from the No Limit production team “Beats by the Pound.” “Street Life” is a pleasing blend of jazz, R&B, New Orleans bounce and classic hip hop. |
