Artist History Brett Littlefair and Ken Cooke came together to form a Duo as a sideline earner to their Rock n Roll band “Backbeat”. Upon discovering the shared passion they had for earthy honest music, they set out building respect for their refreshing approach in presenting songs in an “unplugged” setting. Ken Cooke: South Australian born and bred, with musical influences ranging from Rock, Country, R'n'B and Jazz. In the past couple of years, his 'acoustic' playing style has steered more towards a country/rock sound. Ry Cooder, Leo Kottke and Australian guitarists Stuart Fraser (session musician) and Jak Housden (The Badloves, Whitlams) have impacted the most on Ken's style so far. Vocally, artists such as Tom Petty, John Mellencamp and George Harrison are musicians he can relate to. He sees "Alamo" as the perfect vehicle to use all these influences to help Brett and himself create a sound they can call their own. Brett Littlefair: Brett's sound is all about passion and emotion. Before arriving in S.A from W.A in 2000, Brett had played all over Australia with a number of talented musicians in all spectrums of this style from Country, Rural blues, Soul to Rock n Roll. His earliest influences included Neil Young, John Fogerty and Rolling Stones. Other influences such as the Black Crowes and Cat Stevens are also evident is his style. With a genuine ability to sing with capturing passion, and rock solid rhythmic timing to boot make Brett an authentic purveyor of “Honest” sounding music. Brett's raw vocal/guitar coupled with Kens intuitive guitar/vocals give this pair a pleasingly familiar yet refreshing style!
