Artist History
What do you get when immense artistic talent is mixed with a commitment to telling stories of Canadian life most prefer to ignore?
You get Point Blank, "the crew that lives it up for real".
Originating from T.O. (Toronto, Canada), Point Blank has been a staple of the underground hip hop scene for over 9 years, crafting hard hitting hits like "Retaliation," "Starting Shit," "3 Man Weave," & "Dees Criminals".
All the members of Point Blank hail from Regent Park, Canada's first and largest housing projects, where the crew has been running together since public school. In '89 while starting high school they formed Poetic Vandals, rocking mics at summer block parties and other community events. In time their talent was noticed by the industry, which got them an invite to perform on MuchMusic's original urban music program "Soul in City".
By mid 90's, the group manifested as a large extended family of DJs, producers, artists, & MCs, dedicated to giving a voice to the urban communities growing population with Regent Park as the Epicenter. Releasing a string of underground favourites under the new tag "Point Blank", the family was given a full-page feature in '98 The Source Magazine for their unique sound, fashionable image, and community awareness.
The strong buzz and demand Point Blank created on the city streets brought about the release of an underground album (PB Underground), filling the appetites of their strong fan base. On the vinyl side, the latest 12-inch banger "Thin Line" with b-side "We all thugs" has recently been picked up by Figure IV Distribution, and Nuff Entertainment, with top 5 rankings in various DJ and record pools across US and Canada.
