Artist History
GREGG ROSE – Singer/Songwriter
Gregg first started playing live for college audiences at Oneonta State University in New
York. In the early 1990’s, he joined Horizon-his first rock group, and played the Long Island club/party circuit as a lead guitarist in this original/cover band. He supported his career by working in recording studios and as a guitar technician. His influences included Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, and Ace Frehley.
Throughout the latter part of the 90’s, he immersed himself in songwriting and his newfound love - the acoustic guitar. His influences grew to include songwriters such as Bob Dylan, John Lennon, and Tom Petty.
“I love the power I feel when I’m plugged into an amp, but there’s something about the freedom of the acoustic guitar that really takes me to a different place. Growing up, I always wanted to be a lead guitarist in a hard rock/metal band. As I got older, I began to focus on songwriting as a whole, and discovered that I really had a lot to say. I don’t care what the dominant instrument is in any particular song, as long as it helps to get my point across" said Gregg.
It wasn’t until the turn of the new millennium that Gregg teamed up with Producer/Engineer Alan Scott Plotkin (Public Enemy, Aerosmith, Vanessa Williams…) to record his debut album, “Shadows In The Rain”.
“We wanted to make a record that not only said something special, but also sounded special. Something that would be timeless!” said Alan Scott Plotkin.
Gregg has been compared with artists such as Tom Petty, The Wallflowers, Matchbox 20, and Bob Dylan. “Shadows In The Rain” is a refreshing compilation of acoustic guitar based music that blends the styles of pop, rock, blues, and a hint of country. Gregg opens up his soul to the world with heartfelt, meaningful lyrics on this feel-good album that leaves the listener satisfied yet wanting more…

GREGG ROSE
Shadows In The Rain
(DMR Records)
The first thing that struck me about this CD is the
intelligence in the writing and arrangement of the
songs. The one thing that has always bothered me
about the majority of independent CDs that I lis-
ten to is that there is no originality in the songwriting.
This also holds true for modern-day popular music. It
was nice to listen to something that was making a
strong effort to be original.
Gregg does a nice job of blending together
the rock and blues genres. The opening track,
"Shadows In The Rain," is extremely catchy and very
radio friendly. It was an excellent choice to open the
CD with. There is never a musical low point through
the rest of the CD. The excitement created with the
opening track never dissipates. Gregg's talents as a
guitarist, songwriter and overall musician are greatly
exemplified on this debut.

Review of "Shadows In The Rain" - Makeastar.com
"The rhythm of this track is rocking and the arrangement lets the sound of the playing come through clearly. The bass and drums lock in especially, but, as I mentioned, the percussion and acoustic rock hard..."
Review of "Better Days" - Makeastar.com
"Lyrics are emotional, convincing and work well with the track to convey the message. Very well written. Wonderful organic-sounding live production, a touch of country mixed with pop, very current sounding for today's radio play lists. Convincing performance on an emotional level."
