Artist description
DJ Ché started deejaying in 1994. First he played happy hardcore and jungle, in Frankfurt clubs like the XS, Hypnotic or the Space Place as well as outside Frankfurt in clubs like the Parkhouse (Freiburg) or the U-Club (Wuppertal). He started his first own productions by that time. Although they were never released, they did very well on dubplates. Then, when jungle started to turn more and more into darkside drum´n´bass he lost his fun in this kind of music and turned to big beats and house in 1998. He started a monthly show on Frankfurts local RadioX and played at clubs like the O25 in Frankfurt and others.
In 1999 he had his first contact with 2step and immediately fell in love with the sweet mixture of well-known old school samples, pitched-up r´n´b and the new, a bit housier flavour in the breakbeats. He still played regularly at the Fresh! parties at the O25 and at smaller parties around Frankfurt. When the 2step hype started in spring 2000, he launched Planet Blunt, the first 2step and garage-related website in the Rhein-Main-Area. Thereby he got in contact with lots of other artists from all over germany, which brought him bookings for example in Hannover (Royal Steps), Potsdam (Hardcore Garage) or Mannheim (Sunday Sessions) as well as radio gigs for Frankfurt´s number one radio station, hr XXL.He had a residency in Mannheim for 3 months and started playing regularly at the Club Monza in Frankfurt. He also played at Sound of Frankfurt 2000, a giant street dance party with more than 300.000 people.
In 2001, the step hype died quickly in Germany and the regular parties at he Monza we´re cancelled in June. Ché turned more to the harder sound of breakbeat garage but from time to time he still likes to play house music, "cheesy" 2step or even jungle and hardcore.
After loosing his homebase at the Monza, he played at the Channel parties in Mannheim as well as bigger events like the SOMA festival, Sound of Frankfurt 2001 or the Fusion after the Reincarnation Parade in Hannover.
In December 2001, Ché left Frankfurt and moved to Kerkrade/NL, where he is still working on new productions. He´s still into all kinds of breakbeats, but mainly plays funky house music. More news later on this year...
