Artist History
The son of Reggae icon, Bob Marley, Ziggy has lived his life in the spirit of Reggae and love of Rasta. In 1979, his father brought he and his siblings into the studio to make the record, "Children Playing in the Streets."
Since the early eighties, David "Ziggy" Marley fronted his family band, "The Melody Makers." Though the frontman, Ziggy maintains The Melody Makers are very much a dynamic team, each member lending their own distinctness to the collaborative musical process. Such richness reveals itself in the energy and pure good vibes that pour from every song.
Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers grew critical acclaim and popularity with each release. Their breakthrough album, "Conscious Party", produced by Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads, served to cement their contribution to the history of Reggae. They've since sold millions of records, performed around the world and earned three Grammy awards.
Evolving the Rastafarian tradition of love and hope, Ziggy and the Melody Makers founded, URGE (Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment), which puts the method to his message. URGE assists underprivileged people around the world.
In 2003, Ziggy will release his eagerly anticipated solo release, Dragonfly. |
