Artist description Nadia is everything an up and coming singer/songwriter should be. She excels at both production and performance levels, and currently creates all of her own music. Nadia pulls together keyboard stylings, acoustic guitar, inspirational lyrics and an unerring voice to produce "what Nadia is," as an artist. The influence of song and of music in general has been ever-present in Nadia's life; she was destined to be center stage... Nadia's performance history dates back to Richmond Va in the mid 90's where she made her onstage debut as lead vocalist in her former group RareBlends. Live performance experience in the surrounding Va/DC area permitted Nadia to better define her style and grow as an artist. The RareBlends sound often incorporated the influences of R&B over an unexpected alternative rock edge ("MissRight"). That is not to say that the group's style was limited; RareBlends was just that, a rare blend of several music genre's from soft soul to electric and jazz guitar. When RareBlends disbanded in 1999, Nadia immediately began to pursue her future as a solo artist. No longer having the benefit of live musicians to accompany her soulful voice, Nadia turned to the aid of the studio to back her up Nadia quickly adapted to this new environment, where she became quite adept in her keyboard skills. But the reliance on the electronic studio left Nadia wanting for a more authentic instrumentation, like that used in her days on stage. She quickly took up playing the acoustic guitar, which can be heard in "Never Meant 2 B." The influence that her years with RareBlends had on her sound is also evident in songs like "Running" although Nadia uses a softer guitar sample, than would the former group. For the most part Nadia's sound can be defined as a mix of neosoul, R&B and old school, occasionally touching upon a rock edge reminiscent of her earlier years. Having recently moved to the DC area, Nadia plans to return to the stage. She is currently looking to form a group with local musicians.
