Artist History
Orignally from Cape Cod MA, Sonny Mone developed his
unique blend of poignant lyrics and intense, stripped down, acoustic arrangements playing the New England club
and coffe house Circuit. After relocating to California, he continued to develop his writing and worked
with a broad range of other musicians.
Most notably, Sonny Mone began performing as the lead singer
and, rhythm guitarist and songwriter, for Crazy Horse, Neil Young’s
perennial back up band. The on again-off again relationship between
Young and Crazy Horse, has given Mone the opportunity to record and
perform with them for the past several years, when they are not working
with Young.
The Crazy Horse album "Left for Dead" (originally distributed by Curb Records)
featured Mone as lead vocalist and the main contributing writer. Other than Young,
Sonny Mone is one of the few people to write and sing lead vocals on a recording
with Crazy Horse, since the death of their original front man, Danny Whitten in 1972.
Mone’s collaboration with Crazy Horse still continues with projects in the works. Recent shows have included opening for Los Lobos, Dave Mason and Jim Capaldi's Traffic Reunion, Dave Davies from the Kinks, Curt Smith of Tears for Fears, and The Tubes.
