Artist History
Solenoid began in 2001 when two dis-like minded people decided to explore what could be created through initial hatred.
Cahl, a long time promoter of a nightclub approached a long time patron, Ahkenten, who was beginning his career as a DJ at Cahl's and a subsequent club, to form a band.
Before long, the two were creating industrial musik influenced by Wumpscut and Skinny Puppy.
Not too long into the life of Solenoid, were the band approached to support various other local bands such as Sobriquet and Tankt.
After having to pull out of their first gig due to illness, much interest had been created about the band
and rumours for their pulling out were being to steamroll.
Not 6 weeks later Solenoid performed their first gig at Psychonaut, alone.
The set was only 25mins long, just enough to give the crowd a taste and leave them wanting more.
This was the exact outcome. The gig had barely finished when they were approached about CD sales and a luring interstate tour.
Solenoid more recently did a NYE 2003 gig with Tankt.
The concept was to have both bands playing on stage at the same time, the logistics of which would become a living hell for Ahkenaten.
After 3 months of rewriting Solenoid and Tankt tracks with Tankt composer, Dave Foreman, the pair came up with a seamless
1hr and 5min set of Solenoid/Tankt tracks. Needless to say, this highly anticipated event was a huge success.
Currently the band is promoting is EP : De-humanize with a new line up.
