    Artist History
A dedicated singer/songwriter, described by country music legend George Jones as “the real deal”, Scott has spent his life developing a sound and style of his own. His music, while unique, has a traditional country quality and his dynamic stage presence; rich alluring voice and heartfelt delivery make Scott appealing to a broad range of country music listeners. His musical influences include Merle Haggard, Keith Whitley, John Anderson, Vern Gosdin and Hank Williams Sr. Scott grew up in the close-knit farming community of South Charleston Ohio. He lived with his grandparents early in his life learning to sing and perform Pentecostal church hymns. Scott’s attraction to music led to his first entertainment-oriented job; at 14 he began Disc Jockeying at local clubs and radio stations finding immediate success. As a freshman in High School Scott became a percussionist with the marching band and also began playing drums for local bands. During this time he began writing lyrics and at the age of 17 Scott bought his first guitar with the money he earned cutting grass and began writing and playing music. Moving to Nashville in 1991 Scott played the lower Broad clubs including Tootsies Orchid Lounge, Roberts Western World and Legends Corner on a daily basis. While in Nashville his writing matured and improved dramatically. Increasing his original song library enabled him to then play songwriter venues such as Douglas Corner, The Bluebird Caf and The Broken Spoke where he co-wrote with many other Nashville writers. In 1999 Scott moved back to his home state of Ohio. His writing continued and upon meeting his current songwriting collaborator Ron Vincent in early 2002, Luculent Music was formed. Luculent, “clear in thought or expression”, defines Scott Hisey’s music perfectly.

Album Reviews Scott Hisey What Will The Good Times Do Luculent Music Not every good country music artist is on one of those major labels. Just the way it works, and in a lot of ways, it is a good thing, trust me on that. This newest release from Scott Hisey though is at a caliber higher than most of those big names. I must say, it is a real treat to hear and given the chance to review this album.Ladies and Gentlemen, this is country. The way it should be. Every song is original and co-written by Scott Hisey and Ron Vincent. Each and every one of the 10 tracks is traditional and full of powerful country lyrics. The best of the tracks is kinda hard to choose, but there is one that really stands out. It's the first tracks and hooks you into wanting to hear the rest. "Getting Over A Good Sober", well, do I need to say more? Ok, you asked for it, I will. This has everything a country hit song needs. A song with great upbeat tempo and oh yes, the mention of a honky tonk and drinking is what every country fan loves. Ah, country, done right. "She's Gettin Hot" is one to love. A lyric like "She's Gettin hot while I get burned" and "how do I get by while I know she's with him and all the love that used to burn will never be again," how can you go wrong. The final track is another one that I would have to say is another favorite. "Nashville Way" talks a bit about the hard ways of life in Nashville. "There ain't no room for a new point of view, its all done the Nashville way", can't be said any better.Hisey hits it perfect. This is one of those hidden treasures that need to be a part of your collection. If you haven't taken the chance to pick up any album I've reviewed before or if you never have listened to what I've supported in the past, this is one I hope you will listen to me. This is one you need, not should get or anything like that. Get this one.Grade: A+ (not many get this grade. That's for sure.Information to purchase:http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/hiseyIf you do not have a credit card or have difficultly purchasing by the internet, please, e-mail me Kirk Fitzgerald and I will get you a copy and we can work out the details. I don't want you not to be able to get it. Kirk Fitzgerald/Country Music AliveScott Hisey“What Will The Good Times Do”Scott Hisey may be a fresh face in country music, but he has a voice – a rich, mellow timbre – bred for jukebox familiarity. Once described by veteran crooner George Jones as "the real deal," this relative newcomer comes on strong with seasoned vocals and a presence seldom found in small independently released debuts. The former Pentecostal chorister (his grandmother was a preacher in the charismatic church) has scored big since he bought his first guitar from his teenage grass-cutting round. His long-held dream of recognition through writing, performing, and recording is now fully realized with a steady stream of global independent radio play. After an eight-year residency in Nashville, where Hisey sharpened his stage performance at Tootsies Orchid Lounge, Roberts Western World, and other prominent venues, the hatted singer/songwriter packed his guitar case and dog-eared sheet music for the familiarity of Ohio.Back in his home state, Hisey teamed with emerging songwriter Ron Vincent. The collaborative powers meshed on 10 well-written and produced tracks. The album is a showcase of collective talents easily encouraging my early vote for one of my "best of" independent albums for 2003.From the opening honky tonk jolt heard on "Getting Over A Good Sober" – a fiddle-drenched and piano-tickled tale of delayed indulgence, thanks to a departing femme fatale – the mood of the album hangs on Hisey’s hurting vocals. With the confidence of a Tim McGraw and the vocal sensitivity of a Darryl Worley, Hisey is never more comfortable than when he shares moments heard on the album’s ballads. "Where Can I Find One Of Those", "Getting The Chance", and the ache of a crumbling romance on "Don’t Throw Us Away" highlight a musically manicured hurtin’ that is painfully good on the ear."Haven’t Had The Pleasure", with a reality claiming domestic nods in any suburb, tells beautifully in voice and words about neglect. The ballad hammers a sobering truth: Time doesn’t wait. The song centers on a teenage father, one who is absent too often and for too long, and a caring mother, one who sees the loneliness in her denied child’s face. Paternal sense prevails and the tune ends positively. The track is a standout. If the Hisey/Vincent label (Luculent) were to pitch to a commercial publisher, they could possibly have a breakthrough. The song, to this reviewer’s ears, is class writing and offers a potent message – it carries the accepted branding for a hit single.Another take-notice track is "The Nashville Way". With a lyrical shot at how pop is infiltrating traditional country music, the song draws parallels with the George Strait/Alan Jackson hit of a few years back, "Murder On Music Row".CountryReview.com recently asked Hisey about his past, his future, and how a dictionary cured his Nashville frustrations.George Peden / Country Music ReviewReview.... This young man of Ohio, USA with the voice like Tim McGraw and George Jones has truly made center. What Will The Good Times Do (www.luculentmusic.com) it is a rich album of those songs that any country music fan would want to feel to complete. There are songs perfect for the line dancing (Gettin' Over To Good Sober, The Nashville Way), sweet and methodic singles of a valve (Where Can the Find One Of Those, Don' t Throw Us Away), and some that they make you admire country music (Getting The Chance, What Will The Good Times Do) and two stepping irresistible (Knockin' On Wood and She's Gettin Hot). 10 songs written from the team of Ron Vincent & Scott Hisey that, also rivaling itself to precise outlines and very it tests to you (however it is impossible to cover the paths of the modern country music without bumping into the tracks of George Strait or Alan Jackson) to the end decidedly turn out shining. Country music DJ's of the entire world procurate to you this What Will The Good Times Do the piece strongly of your evenings. "It sounds like country music's been dealin' with the man downstairs, sellin' her soul to POP radio and not one seems to care. The old time fans to are tunin' her out these youngins' ain' t got no clue, of what real country music meant to me and you (from The Nashville Way by: Scott Hisey & Ron Vincent). "Please note the review was translated from Italian"Translation from Lonestartime.com Scott Hisey's "Getting Over a Good Sober" is one of those classic country songs that will have you singing along after the first listen. It is a great, fun song that deals with an age old country theme.... getting drunk! Its well recorded, well produced and has a great contemporary, yet traditional country feel. The song is well constructed, the hook is catchy, the word play.... magnificent and full of wit and humor. To top it off, Hisey has a great voice and is obviously as adept at singing as he is at songwriting. This recording has great potential to be a "smash hit" no pun intended. I added it to my playlist on first listen.Sincerely, Roadhouse Vic WGBB 1240 AM, Freeport, NY Country Music at it's finest! Not only is Scott Hisey a great Country Music singer/performer he is also a talented songwriter. His songs are a refreshing break from the pop sounds that areConstantly being cranked out of Nashville these days. Scott's traditional style alongWith his unique sound are united to create a CD that is without a doubt True Country Music. If you love Country Music, you will love this CD.TC / True Country.com Okay I have one question regarding this artist: "Why hasn't any of the big labels snatched him up yet?" With the style of George Jones and the smoothness of George Strait, Scott Hisey delivers a traditional country sound that is every bit as good as any one I have heard on the airwaves in year Apparently I am not the only one who thinks so either....as he already has a high number fan base and more than one or two great reviews out there. If this artist does not end up with a major label behind him, then Nashville has gone deaf. Nance Parker owner/www.TheStageHand.com Mr. Hisey is country....PURE COUNTRY. You can feel his heart and soul in his music and his lyrics are straight from the heart. Mr. Hisey has an amazing Vocal range and an amazing voice!!! This man is going to be a star!! His songs make you feel them. The songs on his album, "WHAT WILL THE GOOD TIMES DO", Grab at the heart strings and don’t let go. You feel the words as they take hold of your deepest emotions. The best song is impossible to say. 1.)GETTIN OVER A GOOD SOBER: Personal cause it brought back memories of a day I would like to put out of my mind. 2.)WHERE CAN I FIND ONE OF THOSE: A truly great song that makes you think...REALLY THINK! 3.)GETTING THE CHANCE: Brings back happy memories of the first time I met the late John Whitley. Many things happened over the years, all very good memories. 5.)I'LL NEVER HURT AGAIN LIKE THAT: If you have suffered a loss or even been hurt by someone this song grabs the heart. 7.)DON'T THROW US AWAY: This reminds me of life dating a doctor and the hardships of never seeing the man you care about cause he’s always away, many can relate to that. 8.)SHE'S GETTIN HOT: When someone is cheating and lying, this song really strikes the heart. The pain comes thru the lyrics as only Hisey can sing. 9.)HAVEN'T HAD THE PLEASURE: The feeling of regret, that’s what this song says to me. THE EMOTION COMES THRU AS ONLY THE LATE KEITH WHITLEY AND HANK WILLIAMS SR COULD DO, MAKES YOU FEEL THE HURT THRU THEIR SONG'S. ONLY TWO OTHER SINGER'S HAVE BROUGHT SUCH EMOTION'S THRU SONG'S. NOW THERE ARE THREE. LOOK OUT COUNTRY MUSIC, SCOTT HISEY IS ON THE WAY TO THE TOP!! MARK MY WORD'S!! Brenda Brown / OWNER WHITLEY MEMORIES GROUP I listened to your cd. You have a great voice and the production was excellent. Congratulations. Best wishes. Barbara Cloyd / Host of Bluebird Caf Nashville TN I had already picked my favorite two albums of the month when I placed Scott Hisey’s CD on my stereo. Instantly, I was impressed with his George Jones, Jerry Reed, Merle Haggard and a dash of Tim McGraw voice style that he present. “Getting Over A Good Sober” sets the tone on this whole album, and I was waiting to be disappointed once I passed this song. Fortunately, his second cut “Where Can I Find One Of Those,” and the album continues to go on and on with great material. Scott has done an excellent job of songwriting (along with Ron Vincent) and picked an excellent order and production of each one. There simply isn’t a bad song on the album. There’s everything from today’s Country sound to the honky-tonk feel of “Knockin’ On Wood” (sounding a lot like John Connelly and Randy Travis). My favorite cut is “Don’t Throw Us Away.” This song shows his abilities to the best light. Robert Herndon / Powersource Magazine
