    Concert Pianist Ronald Hawkins Internationally acclaimed pianist, Ronald Hawkins, has performed in recital halls, museums, universities, libraries and churches throughout the United States, England, Scotland and Russia. He began his musical studies fourteen years ago and was performing in concert within eighteen months. His recitals have included Preston Bradley Hall, Armstrong Concert Hall, Pendrell Concert Hall and Weill Recital Hall-Carnegie Hall. Hawkins, who received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA, has garnered acclaim from national and international performances and critics have praised his “powerful and poetic performances”. The Greenville News described Hawkins as, “a unique and dynamic young pianist.” Ronald made his international debut in 1997 at The Rachmaninoff Conference in England where he received international acclaim for his performance. The UK Independent states, “Ronald gave a thoughtful and insightful performance. His keyboard manner is undemonstrative and leaves one free to enjoy his music without distraction.” He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including The Richard Ford Deeper Piano Studies Grant, The Hartt School Faculty Development Grant, The Rose Hanus Full Scholarship, The Sullivan Grant, Who’s Who Among Student’s in American Universities and Colleges, The Marion Park Lewis Foundation for the Arts Endowment, The Cecil Hefner Scholarship, The Shenandoah Conservatory Keyboard Scholarship, The Greer Young Artist Scholarship, The Greer Music Club Scholarship and honors in piano and composition at Brevard Summer Music Camp. In the summer 2000, Hawkins was awarded the Rose Hanus Full Scholarship to study at the world-renowned Adamant Music School in Adamant, Vermont. He was one of thirty pianists selected from all over the United States, Canada, Taiwan, Japan, and England to study at the Adamant Music School. There his principal teacher was Mark Sullivan, and he received coaching from Gwen Beamish, Elaine Greenfield, Dmitry Rachmanov, Willard Schultz, and Golda Wainberg-Tatz. In 1992, Hawkins signed an eight-year contract with the Biltmore Estate Christmas Concert Series, in Asheville, North Carolina. Recordings of Ronald’s recital held at Biltmore have been featured on National Public Radio. In 1998, Ronald recorded for Jamlet Music, A Biltmore Estate Christmas. In Spring 2003, he returns to the studio to record the complete Preludes, Op. 28, by Frederic Chopin, at Brock Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. The new release is recorded on the Pier Records label, with whom Ronald previously recorded “Ronald Hawkins, Piano," which features selections from Schumann, Rachmaninoff, Grieg and Liszt. He has performed in master classes with internationally acclaimed artists including, Karen Shaw, John O’Conor, Andre Watts, Mario Kay Ocker, Gerhardt and Barbara Suhrstedt, Maurice Hinson, Jack Roberts, Richard Cass, Leon Bates, Menahem Pressler and Max Camp. His principal teachers include Frederic Chiu, Madeline Bruser, David Westfall, Elizabeth Temple and Ruby Morgan. Ronald enjoys spending his leisure time with his two dogs. He lives in Connecticut, USA.
