    Artist History
Peven Everett is a worldly multi faceted celebrated jazz and soul artist who was born in Harvey, Illinois on June 2, 1975. At the age of 17, Berkley School of Music gave Peven a full scholarship right out of High School. He left school to go on the road with Betty Carter, Winton Marsalis and Branford Marsalis. Peven moved to New York to continue his jazz career in 1992 until returning home in 1998 to full throttle his musical career. He is a producer, writer, vocalist, performer and a multi-instrumentalist playing 11 instruments professionally, including the guitar, keys, drums, bass, trombone, flute, saxophone as well as being the renowned trumpeter who recorded several cuts, including the key single on Curtis Lundy's latest album. Alongside his musicianship, he is an exquisite vocalist and unreal dancer. Having performed with jazz greats at spots like Blue Note, Sweet Basil and Small's in NYC, and all over Chicago, he also started recording deep house records with collaborative efforts on timeless cuts like "Gabriel" and "Watch Them Come". Peven's solo stylings and live shows are remarkable - performing vocals with his acoustic guitar and Rhodes keyboard alongside his band, Séance Divine. While in the midst of recording a new album for his Studio Confession imprint, early 2002 showcased another Diaspora Recordings release, following up his Figarro project of 2001, bringing forth the "Soul Tempura" EP with the highly acclaimed singles "Runaround" and "Good Lovin". Next up on the house production is an single entitled "I Can’t Believe I Loved Her" which is due out this summer on King Street Sounds out of New York http://www.kingstreetsounds.com. In early 2002, Peven teamed up with indie label ABB Record's imprint ABB Soul - http://www.abbrecords.com, which will be releasing the 1st single, "Testin' Me" in August of 2002. This collaboration will birth Peven's first soul full-length release entitled Studio Confessions, a 10-track album, that will feature all production, arrangement, and performance by Peven himself. Studio Confessions offers an emotional and organic look at Harvey's soul child; Peven Everett and his journey through life. The album is best described as complex in structure yet soothing and simple in sound. Blessed with a pleasant and dynamic voice, Peven delivers songs with comparable passion and energy as Bill Withers, Donny Hathaway, and Marvin Gaye. Through his lyrics, Peven's objective is to not only be understood, but to impart his emotion and intensity to his audience. At 27 Peven is creative beyond imagination, ready and a genius - and we take that word seriously.
