Artist History
When Louis sings "I was born in Amarillo
with the honky tonks and the rodeos" it's
the truth. He was born Louis Anthony Homen,
the youngest of six boys raised in Amarillo, Texas
in a large, close-knit family. Like his autobiographical
song "Amarillo Bound", his summers were spent on a John Deere
tractor helping with the family farm. When he wasn't farming,
he was playing his guitar and lining up gigs. He started off as
a solo act at a barn dance and never looked back.
Louis graduated with a degree in Geology from
West Texas A&M University, married Alice Hill
and moved to Dallas where he pursued his
environmental consulting career. With his band
days on hold for a while, he started is own company,
LH Environmental Consulting, Inc., which grew to
become a leading environmental consulting firm
in North Texas. Louis sold the business in 2003
and now he is devoting his time to singing
and songwriting.
After seven years and two miscarriages, Louis
and Alice were truly blessed with the birth of
their daughter, Chelsea and even more blessed
and surprised by the birth of their second
daughter, Meredith one year later. Louis wrote
the song "By the Faith" after Chelsea was born
so they would always remember their faith in God
led them to such a happy and glorious day. In
addition to quality family time, Louis enjoys
writing, promoting his music, bass fishing and
playing golf.
Homen recorded Never Too Late which was released
in December of 2002. This 13 track CD of Texas
music is a great mix of traditional country, folk
and Americana music with lyrics that are from the
heart, offering something for everyone. Louis’
smile on and off-stage is contagious and his
sense of humor and southern wit is a reflection
of his true happiness.
