Artist History
Anger Management sprang from the creative forces of Portland local bands, Mid-Evil and Murderfest. The year was 1995 and Ted Behm (lead guitar, backing vocals) had just hooked up with Tracy James Finck (drums, backing vocals), who had recently parted ways with local death squad Murderfest, to create Mid-Evil. The two began writing heavy rhythms while searching for the right candidates to complete the band. Two albums later, Tracy and Ted finally found the talent and energy they were looking for in Dave Bjorklund (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and Todd Janeczek (bass, backing vocals).
In May of 1999, Dave Bjorklund joined the Anger ranks adding rhythm guitar to the already fat Anger sound. Dave's own incredible sound and playing ability made the decision to bring him on an easy one. Dave had been playing for Portland locals, Mission Horus and jammed with The Mandibles, and Detriment prior to that. Dave is a perfect fit for the band, a long time friend and former band mate of Tracy Finck from the now deceased Murderfest.
Todd Janeczek, tattoo artist, and long time friend of Anger Management, joined Anger in March of 2001, replacing Marq Lawler on bass guitar. Todd brings 18 years of experience to the ANGER camp. Playing a 5-string bass he adds a whole new dimension to the band with deep body shaking thunder and an element of free-style that truly compliments the Anger sound.
Anger has heavily brutalized Portland's clubs for years, opening for touring metal and hardcore acts such as the immortal Flotsam & Jetsam, Nevermore, (hed)-PE, Skinlab and the now deceased Stuck Mojo. Anger was well received among all crowds leaving them screaming for more. Anger gained recognition in the local scene in 1999, landing a spot among the top three bands in Portland where they played a 'Battle Of The Bands' show promoted by a local radio station for unsigned talent. The Anger boys were not destined to bring home the trophy that night. But 2000 saw the band voted #1 in Portland via a local internet poll by PDXNet.com, and in March of 2002, caught the attention of grunge-town when the band was featured on www.seattlemetalonline.com.
The band is just currently working on new material and have already laid down instrumental tracks for their 4th studio release, to be titled Winter's Black, due out early 2003. The new album will feature Dave on lead vocals. |
