    Artist History
The whole project began as nothing but a name. Patrick Allen (PDA) had just left a band called Cardinal Sin, one of the beginning incarnations of a group which would eventually be called Dawnrazor, though the original sound was little more than Teenagers trying to figure out where the stood in the field of music. Patrick's contributions to the project were small, insignificant, and overall sucked. He had only one thing to offer, and overall love of music. The name Silent Muse followed shortly after, more of a pipe dream than anything else. Patrick's next project, if it ever occured, would be named Silent Muse, after the curse he believed he suffered from. He had ideas. . . thousands of them, and yet when the time finally came to put some of those plans forward, the mythical greek sprite supposedly in charge of inspiration would give him nothing at all. Things stayed like this for quite some time. Slowly but surely, Patrick began writing lyrics again. As before, most of them were fruitless and, in a word, sucked, but were overall more mature in nature than the spurtings he had offered Cardinal Sin. Yet, more often than not, these ideas would also be cast into the wastebin, especially when no music could leave the confines of his brain to back up the words. Being unable to do anything but hack away notes on a keyboard didn't help, either. It wasn't until the spring of 2000 that Patrick even thought he had usuable song ideas, and those were still in the very early developmental stages. Slowly, Patrick began working with computers to remix others' songs, just as a way to vent his frustration at not being able to write himself. He sat amongst hundreds of CDs, listening and knowing just what to do to someone else's music, but not to his own. His few attempts at sequencing were trite and, once again, sucked. Yet with each thing he did, he learned. And with each poem he wrote, he learned again, until finally he began to become satisfied with his lyrics. It was JDavyd Williams, Patrick's brother, who had founded Cardinal Sin and became even more famous for his work in Dawnrazor, Visions in Blue, Unit F, and In Tenebris (most of which he founded) who finally gave Patrick the tools he needed to get some work done. Patrick's lyrics had started forming much more interesting songs, often displayed on Dusk Never Dies, his online journal. JDavyd instructed Patrick on the basics of computer-programmed music, and Patrick began his off-and-on experimentation in the field. Using the influence of over 100 bands as his starting point, Patrick's new problem was that his muse would not shut up long enough for him to finish a song without hassle. Almost two years later, Silent Muse is performing its first show, and its first Demo is being released here, recorded and mastered by JDavyd (JSW) who is both mentor to and "behind the scenes guy" of the project. We don't claim that it's "cutting edge" or "the best music out there." It is, simply, a portrait of a struggle. One man, with the help of others, trying to express his other struggles in musical form. It's a heart, waiting to be adored or crushed. In the end, it's just happy to beat.
