Artist description
Osvaldo Oyola Ortega writes songs that are "true" and meaningful, exploring events, aspects and emotions of his own life or life in general with a passion. He has written somewhere near 100 songs since picking up the guitar (but had a four year writing hiatus). Disillusioned with bands, he decided in late 2002 that all he need was "my voice and my guitar". |

Artist History
Osvaldo began singing and performing in school choirs at the age of 10, but was not until the age of 19, that he picked up a guitar and started trying to figure out "what sounds good" while learning or figuring out as many songs as possible. He began writing his own songs almost immediately after first picking it up. In 1991 he formed "The Milk Lizards" while in collegs (during this time period), a band influenced by noisy "drug" music like the Velvet Underground and explicitly sexual like Prince. In 1993 he went on to form "Zuckermann's Famous Pig", a trio with a funk edge that put out two eps, one self-titled and the other named "Maybe Monday".
In 1995 he and the band's drummer, Michael Sultan cut free from the trio and formed an acoustic duo, calling themselves "Franny & Zooey". The dissolution of this duo by 1996 led Osvaldo to abandon performing and writing for a time, but began writing with a new fury in 2002, and released "will." at the end of the year. |
