Artist description As bright and warm as the celestial body it was named after, estrela (es-trel-a), the Portuguese word for star, is melodically driven, with no room for dissonance. A full understanding can be obtained with knowledge of the star. A star is self-luminous, balancing it’s gravitational forces by it’s outflow of energy. People look to the stars for answers, from advice, to love, to remembrance. From the bright outbursting scream of vocalist Bobby Lopez, to the warm and upbeat grooves rendered by drummer, Matt Clendenning and bassist Robby Phillips, floating through guitarist Josh Martin’s ambient but technical overtones, the star truly exemplifies estrela’s sound.

Artist History The foundation of Estrela was built on grade school friends with a passion for music. While going through various name changes, instrumentally the band was slowly evolving and maturing into the melodic outflow of energy they presently are. However, one piece of the band was still missing and so began the search for a vocalist. The band wanted someone passionate enough about music, with the fortitude to never give up. They wanted someone who’s vocal ability could venture far into human emotion, and with visceral screams that could break glass while being tastefully embedded throughout the music. With that, and about a year of searching, Bobby Lopez was found to complete the band.
