Artist History
CoolBlueExit started in October 2000 as the musical
vision of singer-songwriter James Schappert.
Years of working in original duo and power trio bands
and also working as a sound engineer with some of
the northeasts best original and cover bands gave James
the focus to produce an album of songs that carry the
listener to places that they have been to or wish that they
could be. |

Press Reviews
This is what the soundtrack to the next Quentin Tarantino movie should be. Nothing but this guy. A one man project that combines electronic eerie melodies with David Bowie type vocals. I feel so stupid for listening to ONE very narrow type of music for the last, umm, 7 years? Amazing music is not extinct we just have to look a little harder. This is going on my station.

CoolBlueExit is James Schappert much in the same way that Nine Inch Nails is Trent Reznor.
Mr. Schappert takes a similar approach to music-making on his debut CD "CoolBlueExit" as
Reznor did on "Pretty Hate Machine"---he plays all of the instruments and handles all of the vocals on the album. The result is an extremely well executed collection of euro-synth/slightly gothic/atmospheric pop songs.
"CoolBlueExit" was self-recorded and mastered by Schappert. He proves that he knows
his way around a mixing board, as the music is tight and smoothly produced. This album
sounds especially cool with headphones..Schappert's choice of blips, bleeps, and whooshes
often creates an almost other-worldly feel to some tracks ("Angel"). Add vocals that are very
reminiscent of David Bowie and Ian Curtis, a few nice drum beats ("Why Can't We", "Under
Blue Sky"), and clean guitar work ("Shadow") and you get an interesting and relaxing piece of mood music.
James Schappert's first foray into recording is definitely worth having for fans of this type
of music, as well as anyone who appreciated quality engineering. I'd be interested to see
the direction Schappert takes on his next album.
