Artist History
Formed in 2001 by Ulrich Riff-Vomitor and Johnny Tombthrasher, as a tribute to the old masters of death/thrash metal. After the first demo, 'Initiation to the Cult' in 2001, the 'band' seeks out a more individual style, still profoundly influenced by the ancient gods of morbid metal noize though. |

GHOUL CULT - Initiation To The Cult (Demo-CDR)
[6 Tracks, 21:37] Looks like Norway is slowly awakening from it´s delirium. Here we have another band that doesn´t fall in the Norsecore pit. "Savage Old-School Thrashing" is announced and that´s what you get. Vocals sound very frosty for the most part while the actual music is more in a sodomesque vein and the CD is closed by a DESTRUCTION cover ("Mad Butcher"). These guys are firmly rooted in german thrash but pull it off in such a snotnosed manner that you just cannot put then in the Retro folder. I like it :-)

GHOUL-CULT - Initiation To The Cult (self released~2002)
Upon your initiation to this cult you´ll experience gritty, raw Death Thrash that has a lot of nodding towards CELTIC FROST, especially in the vocal delivery. In fact the vocalist could very well front a CELTIC FROST cover band and be damn good at it ! The guitar tone also has a FROSTy ring to it but the formula is different. European style Thrash riffs are abundent and backed up well with consistent drumming to deliver a ferocious and enjoyable 6 tracks. For the last track they perform a cool cover of DESTRUCTION´s 'Mad Butcher'. It is easy to see that this young band from Norway have been properly schooled in the art of "kreating" their own thrashing madness but definitely not forgetting to hail the eighties Thrash / Death forefathers. Very cool band, recommended. Favourite track: 'Bulletbelt Beserker'.
